Hirsute Inspirations

Ever find that the most amazing ideas that you come up with have already been thought of and used better than what you had in mind for it?

Happened to me the other day. Cracking away at a commission (which is a story in itself!) and whilst using the brush tool on Photoshop and changing its size using its shortcut – ” { ” or ” } ” – I saw something! Something awesome! Something so simple and masterful. I saw a moustache! A moustache! The squiggly bracket looked like a moustache!

I laughed this off. Not in a “pshhh-yeah-right” kind of way but more of a “yeah-that-could-work” kinda a way. But I had more pressing matters to attend to. Commission. Money. Livelyhood (?). I stored this little brainstorm away and promised to come back to it.

Flash forward several hours later. My “Moustache-storm” completely forgotten and I’m browsing through an astounding blog belonging to a certain Graham. Just Graham. Couldn’t find his surname and I really don’t think it matters at this point.

But! Boy is he smooth. An instant addition to my Google Reader.

Right, where was I? Oh yeah. Innocently browsing through some inspiration on how to approach Logo Design (curiously enough he’s a “friend” of David Airey another amazing designer). And I happened across THIS. Why Lord? Why? Why do you forsake me!? I even had a better name for it! Fontache! FONTACHE I TELL YOU! It would have been the future!

Still. I’m going to do my own version. But better. Just you wait.

Ok…so I did it.

You know what? I’m scared. There I said it.

I’ve got WordPress, Facebook, Flickr, Twitter (MySpace should really be included here but I stopped using it several summers/winters/autumns/springs/all of the above ago although it’s still there…..oh yeah…its still there like an annoying itch you can’t scratch) not to mention Google Reader, Yahoo email account and Hotmail to boot.

Where does it end? Does it end?

Maybe I’m missing the point. Maybe I just don’t realise it yet but there is a very mahoosive point to all of this. Skynet? No? Sorry…tangent.

In anycase, I’ve done it now. Hopefully this won’t end with just this post. This won’t end up like my Flickr account or my Twitter account….desolate of any pictures or words…..dry….arid….

I’m hoping that this new fad will kick me squarely in the jaw (thats right…my jaw…my nether regions are off limits you muppet!) kicking my brain into gear and forcing it to actually think and type at the same time.

Right then. I’m off. I’m still getting to grips with Mr. WP. I hope I get to grips with it as I much rather enjoy ranting and typing inane jibber-jabber then posting my hopeless pictures or short prose that could be used by strangers to ascertain (always liked this word….ascertain….you say it slow enough and people’d think you’re going to say something naughty and then you lay some “schooling” down) your whereabouts so they could raid your garbage bins or something to that affect (or is it effect….no wait…I was right first time………………….right?)

I’m really going now. If you get a chance to….look up Booka Shade’s Bad Love track…..don’t say I never gave you anything.
